Software comparison

PestBase vs Jobber: Which Software Fits a Pest Control Business?

We make one of these two. Jobber is a widely used, well-reviewed field service platform that publishes its pricing openly — which is more than we do. This page is about where each one actually fits.

The short version

A pest platform and a field service platform

PestBase

Pesticide records, applicator licenses, canvassing, and recurring plans are the product, not a configuration on top of it.

  • Pest companies where compliance documentation is a daily obligation
  • Operations running door-to-door or seasonal sales teams
  • Teams wanting workforce records in the same system as service

Jobber

A well-reviewed general field service platform with published pricing, a free trial, and a large integration marketplace.

  • Solo operators and small teams
  • Companies running pest alongside lawn, cleaning, or other services
  • Anyone who wants to be working in the software this week

Where the difference actually shows

Regarding scheduling, quoting, invoicing, and the technician app, these products are closer than either of us would like to admit. The separation is in pest-specific obligations.

Find your fit

The question is how much compliance weight you carry

START

PestBase is the better fit if…

  • Pesticide records, applicator licenses, and CEU deadlines are part of your week
  • You run a door-to-door or seasonal sales team
  • You manage product stock across several trucks
  • Commercial accounts with audit documentation are a growing share of revenue

→ PestBase path

Jobber is the better fit if…

  • You're a solo operator or small team doing general pest work
  • You run pest alongside lawn care, cleaning, or another trade
  • You want published pricing and a free trial before committing
  • You depend on a wide third-party integration ecosystem

→ Jobber path

No winner declared. For a one-truck operator doing general pest control, Jobber at its entry tier is a reasonable choice and we'd say so on a sales call too.

Frequently asked questions

  • Does Jobber handle pesticide records and FIFRA documentation?

Partly, through configurable job forms and custom fields, you can build something that captures product, target pest, and usage. What you don't get is a purpose-built pesticide record with structured EPA registration numbers, a product label library, re-entry intervals and applicator attribution. For a small general pest operation, forms may be enough. For commercial accounts facing audits, they usually aren't.

  • Does Jobber have door-to-door canvassing?

Not natively. It's handled through third-party canvassing tools, which works but means a second subscription, a second login, and a handoff between the two systems.

  • How much does Jobber really cost?

The plan price is the start. Add users beyond your tier's cap, any add-on products, and payment processing at roughly 2.9% + 30¢ per card transaction. For pest businesses running many small recurring invoices, the flat 30¢ is worth modelling specifically. Jobber publishes current rates — check their page rather than any third-party summary, including ours.

  • Does either offer a free trial?

Jobber does — 14 days, no credit card. We don't; we offer a live demo against your own routes. That's useful for a different reason, but it isn't a trial and we won't pretend otherwise.

  • Which handles licences and CEU renewals?

PestBase tracks applicator licence category, expiry and CEU credits with alerts ahead of deadlines. Jobber doesn't do this natively. See how ours works.

If compliance documentation is what keeps you up

That's the part a general platform asks you to build yourself. Bring a real service week and we'll show you the difference honestly.
